Victoria Street works begin

THE rejuvenation of Kerang’s main shopping strip is underway.

Workers spent Sunday morning demolishing garden beds, seats and sheltered areas adjacent to Victoria Street to make way for a $750,000 redevelopment.

In what are the largest works to occur in the street since the removal of the Victoria Square fountain in 2006, the finished project will include a raised roadway and seating pods on either side of the precinct, bordered by the post office and council chambers

Limited parking will be available in Victoria Street during the construction phase, with repair works to Hawthorne’s carpark in Fitzroy Street recently completed.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times throughout the work with temporary walkways and signage in place.
