KERANG’S latest general practitioner comes with extensive experience in general and emergency medicine.
Dr Kolade Ojo commenced duties at Kerang Medical Clinic on Monday and has visiting medical officer credentials for Kerang District Health.
He studied medicine at Lagos in his native Nigeria and worked as a general practitioner, including completion of a compulsory rural general practitioner and emergency medicine placement before psychiatry studies at Trinidad in the West Indies.
Dr Ojo has been employed in the emergency department at Goulburn Valley Health in Shepparton for just over two years, where he experienced a wide range of medical situations.
“There were lots of paediatric, geriatric, trauma and medical emergencies, some gynecology,” he said.
Dr Ojo expects that the mix of clinic and hospital consultations and on-call emergency work at Kerang District Health will offer a similar range of medical work.
He is impressed with the local health service’s new facilities.
“It is very well organised and the facilities are better than some larger places,” he said.
