LOCAL lawn bowls pennant competitions will observe a bye this weekend as some of the State’s top competitors meet in Shepparton for the Victorian Titles.
Bowls Victoria has directed all leagues not to hold pennant matches during the seven-day competition to enable people to compete or travel to venues to watch competition.
Competition begins tomorrow at venues throughout the Goulburn Valley, with the men’s and women’s singles, followed by men’s and women’s pairs on Sunday and the men’s and women’s triples on Monday.
Mixed pairs action begins on Tuesday, with knockout rounds for all competitions occurring later in the week leading up to the finals on Friday, November 11.
Players from Barham, Boort, Cohuna and Wakool will represent local hopes, with Northern District Bowls Division president, Ian Main one player who will take part in competition, open to any current Bowls Victoria members.
“There is a bit of travelling involved if you choose to take part. There are 64 sections in each competition, and if you win your section, then you play knockout games,” he said.
Saturday pennant action will resume on November 12, with Northern District Bowls Division midweek competition continuing from Friday, November 18.
