CMFNL – Raiders, Kangas to clash

KOONDROOK/BARHAM is still a chance to claim the Central Murray Football Netball League minor premiership and the bye during the first weekend of finals.

The Raiders take on the Cohuna Kangas tomorrow knowing that a Kerang loss to Woorinen and a 125-point win will see the border side move to first spot on the ladder.

It will be a difficult task for Neil Bradley’s men to achieve this feat, especially facing a Kangas side that went down to Tyntynder by two points last weekend.

The Raiders bounced back from a round 16 loss to Tooleybuc/Manangatang, defeating the Mallee Eagles by 67 points last weekend and will aim to record a fourth consecutive victory against their local rivals.

Koondrook/Barham prevailed by 58 points when these sides met in round seven, with Jay Reynolds leading the way.

The forward is proving to be a vital cog in the Raiders’ forward line alongside midfielder, Tom Lamb, but the pair will face the challenge of Damian Kefford and Kaleb O’Flaherty.

Rhys Bradley – who missed last weekend’s loss to the Bulldogs – will be a key inclusion against his former side, and will link up with Rhys Thrum.

The pair will need to be at their best against the likes of Tom May and Troy Rogers, whilst Harrison Keely may need to move away from the forward line to help the visitors in the ruck against key Raiders recruit, Rhett Sutton.

Kangas coach, Rick Easton will need plenty of support in the forward line if the Kangas are to produce a seventh win of the season, but this will be tough against the second-best defensive unit in the competition.

PREDICTION: Koondrook/Barham will win by 40 points.
