A DONATION to Cohuna Fire Brigade has boosted a local cards club’s community contributions beyond $10,000.
Cohuna 500 Club has presented a cheque for $400 to add to the fire brigade’s equipment fund.
Club president, Frank Bagg said that the Cohuna District Hospital, Cohuna Retirement Village and the Royal Children’s Hospital are other regular recipients.
The 40-year-old club attracts an average of 20 players for weekly games, including players from Kerang, Barham and Pyramid Hill.
Cohuna Fire Brigade captain, Matt Trigg said that the brigade appreciated the support of groups like the Cohuna 500 Club.
The brigade has gained Victorian Government and Country Fire Authority funding towards the purchase of a new field command vehicle, which will need to be equipped.
The four-wheel-drive vehicle is not only used by the brigade, but also for fire brigade group fires across the district and for strike teams for major fires in Victoria and interstate.
Captain Trigg said that the new vehicle will be a larger utility vehicle with custom-made canopy to house equipment.
