Men beautify entrance

THE Cohuna Men’s Shed has swapped their drill for a shovel to beautify a previous eyesore on the fringe of urban Cohuna.

Members of the group have recently planted more than 150 native wattle and jacaranda plants at a parcel of land on Factory Road, Cohuna.

Another 150 trees will be planted during the coming weeks, with various community groups and school children also putting on their green thumb.

“We have recently acquired some environmental funding and the money will be put towards improving the site which has been uninviting and ordinary looking for visitors who travel south from Pyramid Hill,” Gannawarra Shire Council mayor, Cr Lorraine Learmonth said.

“The wattles at Gilrule Park look great when they flower at different times of the year. This will be replicated at an area between residential homes and the industrial area.”
