Kerang U3A concert solves mystery

A KERANG and District University of the Third Age concert delayed by regional floods has finally taken the stage at the at Kerang Memorial Hall.

This was the club’s 15th concert, which annually provides entertainment for the community, particularly residents of Northaven, Glenarm and the Day Care Centre.

The anticipation was greater than usual because the concert was originally scheduled for October.

The U3A Acting for Fun group wrote a five-act mystery-drama play titled A Date at the Palms, with the characters having colours for their names and costumes in matching colours.

A body was found, accusations were made and alibis verified, with a few surprising revelations and much hilarity.

The Kerang Singers and the Neighbourhood House Line Dancers entertained the crowd between scenes. The audience also got to listen to some short stories from the U3A writing group, which were read from the anthology the group publishes each year.

Plans for next year’s concert are already under way.

U3A Kerang and District Inc is a branch of a worldwide organisation that helps retirees to keep active in mind, body and soul. The group has a monthly program where members can choose the activities to try, whether they be sociable, active or intellectual.
