A picture perfect ball

DEBUTANTES at the Mallee Eagles Debutante Ball earlier this month wowed the crowds with their dance moves and dresses.

The seven girls and their partners were introduced to gathered family and friends on Saturday, May 13.

Dressed in navy blue suit and ties, the young men perfectly complemented the beautiful dresses on display for the night.

The theme was “picture perfect”, with a large, golden picture frame the centrepiece of the set.

Attendees were treated to a complimentary platter box with their ticket, as well as a selection of slices provided by local community members.

After eight weeks of two-to-three-hour Sunday dance lessons, from Strike a Pose Dance Studio, the partners learnt five dances for the night.

Debutantes boogied to hits that included songs from Nickelback, Meghan Trainor and a medley of songs from the film Pitch Perfect.

Strike a Pose’s Natasha Gerakis said the pairs’ efforts in training led the night to live up to its picture perfect billing.

“In the first training session everyone is always worried about how they are going to remember the steps,” she said.

“But after a few weeks it all starts to click and they’re set.

“They do an incredible job at remembering all the dances and perform them especially well.

“We are always really proud of the work they put into learning, we know that it can be daunting for those non-dancers.”
