Holiday fun at local libraries

CHILDREN can find entertainment over the school break at Gannawarra Shire’s libraries, with the return of the holiday program.

Between September 19 and 28, children will be able to attend craft activities across the service’s branches in Cohuna, Kerang and Leitchville.

Gannawarra Shire Council chief executive Geoff Rollinson said the hard work of library staff had led to continued demand for the program.

“Thanks to our dedicated staff, two weeks of events will keep children entertained, with places certain to fill up quickly,” he said.

Children aged six or older will be able to make utility boxes at Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library from 10.30am on Tuesday September 19 and Tuesday September 26.

Mr Rollinson said community involvement had helped design the boxes the children would create.

“The Gannawarra Library Service has worked with the Kerang Men’s Shed in developing the design and materials for the utility boxes, which can be used to hold items such as plants, make-up and treasures,” he said.

The Leitchville branch will host its own school holiday fun from 2.30pm on Tuesday September 19, with children six and above to make friendship bracelets.

Kerang’s Sir John Gorton Library will host its sessions to make friendship bracelets on Wednesday September 27 from 10.30am and at the Cohuna Library on September 28 from 2pm.

Children of all ages are invited to make popcorn-blossom trees at Cohuna Library at 2pm on September 20 and at Sir John Gorton Library at 10.30am on September 21.

Bookings for all activities are essential, with all children to be accompanied by an adult.
