Range of art on show

FROM First Nations artwork, to Easter-themed art, the Rotary Club of Kerang Annual Easter Art Show had something for everyone’s taste in art.

Rotary Club member Jenny Kelly said the show was one of the many successful events in the Gannawarra Shire at the weekend

“It was just great to have a full events calendar for Easter for all the visitors or families who were coming home,” Ms Kelly said.

“Our art show really complemented all the other activities in Kerang and surrounds over the Easter weekend.

“I was extremely happy with our entries and the judges were also impressed.

“We had good attendance over the weekend and had record sales from paintings and other artworks.”

The show at Kerang Basketball Stadium and artworks from artists all over the state were showcased.

Works from local artists and First Nations artists were on display, well as works from renowned artist and “father of the Australian Outback painting movement” Pro Hart, which was a highlight.

Ms Kelly said she was proud of the diverse range of artwork that they were able to showcase.

“We had a really good array of artwork and were able to put on a good show, because we had works from artists all over Victoria, and we also had lots of local artists as well,” she said.

This year, $6000 in prizes were given to winners of different categories, who were announced on Friday.

Cole Brown from Bendigo took home the Best of Show Award for That Old Dam and Jan Lawler from Balranald won the Gannawarra Shire Acquisition Award of $1500 for Kingfisher.
