Eat and enjoy in heritage ambience

THE Gunbower Workshop Cafe is a warm and friendly cafe with great food and fresh coffee in a unique location evoking memories of yesteryear.

The building, located at 3-5 Main Street, Gunbower, is much more than just a cafe.

It is a historical collection, a nursery, and a gift shop. More importantly, it’s a place where warm, friendly people serve beautiful home-cooked food.

Owner Brendan Betts and his friendly staff are the heartbeat of this quirky, historical, and thoroughly charming cafe.

For more than 30 years, Brendan has had a passion for collecting early Australian cast-iron pots and pans, which he displays around the premises.

The menu changes seasonally, with an emphasis on sourcing local produce.

From delicious salads to baked pastries, quiches, tarts and tasty pies and pasties, there is something for everyone.

Gluten-free and vegetarian needs are catered for as well.

If you are looking for a special gift or just want to treat yourself, there is always something special to purchase with delicious sauces, organic honey, homemade jams, and spreads on sale.

Head outside to the nursery, where there is an array of rustic garden art for sale.

The nursery has a wide selection of succulents, hanging baskets, ferns and cut flowers for special occasions such as Mother’s Day and Christmas.

Group bookings are welcome, and fur babies will find a warm spot to sit while you are enjoying your meal.

Brendan loves seeing visitors wander in and make their way around the collection, nursery and gift shop, but he especially loves the regular groups who visit. A warm and welcoming place to be, the cafe attracts regular busloads of club members and nursing home residents each week.

Brendan and his staff love chatting with all who pass through, and the store is a popular destination for groups of motorcyclists and cafe riders.

Picture a vintage motor mechanics workshop converted into a classic cafe and nursery with collectibles on display, and you have a unique place to visit.

Heading into the colder months, Brendan and his team will introduce a winter warmer package in which seniors can enjoy soup or a pie with fresh coffee and a slice or cake. All at a very reasonable price. Brendan’s advice is to stay tuned for more information.

Open Monday to Tuesday (7am-2pm) Wednesday (7am-3pm) and Saturday and Sunday (8am-3pm), the Gunbower Workshop Cafe is one place you don’t want to miss.

Stop by and say hi to Brendan and his crew.
