WORK associated with stage two of the Cohuna waterfront development continues, with preliminary works for improvements within Garden Park underway.
These works, which form part of a larger plan to improve connections between King George Street and Gunbower Creek, involve the excavation and installation of electrical pits that will support a power upgrade throughout the park.
The works will support improved lighting throughout the park, in the hope of greater use of the area.
The improvements will be completed in sections, with only areas fenced off closed to the public at this time.
Council said works would have minimal impact to regular events held within the park, including the monthly farmers and makers market.
Meanwhile, work to construct a seating area at the intersection of King George and Sampson streets continues, with construction of dedicated outdoor dining areas either side of the King George Street pedestrian crossing and a deck pontoon on the banks of Gunbower Creek, to begin in the coming weeks.
