Streetscaping stage 2 works complete in Kerang CBD

VISITORS to Kerang’s central business district are benefiting from a rejuvenated streetscape and extra seating following the recent completion of the second stage of the Kerang CBD redevelopment.

The $1.317 million redevelopment, funded by the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, are part of continued efforts to link the Kerang Railway Station, Victoria Square precinct and the Kerang open space precinct, located along Scoresby Street between Albert and Victoria streets.

As part of the redevelopment, footpaths along the central business district section of Scoresby Street were rejuvenated, with new bench seating and trees planted.

A dedicated accessible outdoor eating area was created outside Gray’s Bakery at the northwestern corner of Fitzroy and Scoresby streets, while following discussions with business owners, the grassed area outside the Royal Hotel on the southwestern corner of Scoresby and Victoria streets was retained and enhanced with the installation of timber bollards and screens between the grassed area and road.

Improvements to the Kerang central business district will continue in 2022, with the third stage of the redevelopment to proceed thanks to funding from the third round of the Federal Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program.

Council will allocate over $2m of the $2.6m received from the program to upgrade street furniture and pavements along Victoria Street, leading into Wellington Street.
