How small Mallee towns can take ownership

PEOPLE from the Mallee will hear about the magic ingredients that help small towns make a big difference at a forum later this month.

What makes one small town thrive, while another neighbouring town struggles? This question, and many more will be answered at a forum organised by Mallee Regional Partnership and Regional Development Victoria on October 20.

Led by media personalities Derek Guille and Brad McEwan, they will be joined by guest speakers from Kerang, Quambatook, Sea Lake, Ouyen and Bendigo, about how communities can take on ownership of local facilities, from hotels and supermarkets to lakes and gyms.

They will also divulge on how best to work in partnership with other groups, how to access non-government funds for projects, and how to develop events that can put a town on the map.

This free event will be held at Charlton Park on October 20, from 10am-3pm. Morning tea and lunch will be provided.

As an added bonus, participants will be able to take part in a guided tour of the recently opened Rex Theatre prior to the forum.
