Council vote on mayor

GANNAWARRA Council will next week elect a mayor and deputy mayor for the next 12 months.

An unscheduled meeting will be held on November 7 at 9am.

It’s expected council will vote for stability and return Cr Charlie Gillingham, as it responds to the flood emergency and the hunt for a new chief executive.

Councillors were contacted for comment.

First elected to council in 2016, Cr Gillingham has served two terms as mayor, since November 2020.

He became the first Avoca Ward representative this century to be elected mayor.

The public meeting will be held at the Kerang Senior Citizens Centre, 169 Boundary Street.
