AFTER a tough two months isolated with the floods, the Kerang and district community will reunite for an evening of food, fun and fellowship at the community carols event.
The annual Christmas tradition will again be held at Atkinson Park on Sunday from 5pm.
Carollers are encouraged to bring their own picnic, chair and blanket, with a barbecue and cold drinks available from the Kerang Lions Club.
Carols will begin at 7pm, with a variety of bands and all four primary schools performing on stage.
There will also be candles, face painting, balloons, the Rotary train and craft activities to keep the youth entertained.
To add variety, Filipino and Afghan food will also be available to purchase.
Tim Nitschke, from Kerang Combined Churches, said this year’s carols would be special given the events of the past two months.
“Kerang has obviously had a tough time in regards to the floods, so one way of uniting the community is being able to get together and support each other,” he said.
“Carols is certainly one event that can do that, by sharing food, fun and fellowship.
“Singing just generally is good for you, so taking the spirituality side out of it, it’s good for your health and soul.”
Mr Nitschke said Kerang was “blessed” to have ministers and chaplains “working together for the common theme”.
He said the event wouldn’t be possible without sponsors and service clubs.
