Kerang Show scores country music coup

AN AUSTRALIAN country music trio will headline an evening of entertainment at the 137th Kerang Show on October 9.

Jetty Road will perform at Alexandra Park as part of the Kerang Country Music Show, from 6.30pm.

The band comprises twins Paula and Lee Bowman and multi-instrumentalist Julian Sammut, who have sung up a storm all over the world in recent years, alongside Taylor Swift, Alan Jackson, Brooks and Dunn, Tim McGraw, Vince Gill and Glen Campbell.

Kerang Show president Sharon Ash said she was “pinching” herself to see “if it’s real” that Jetty Road had been secured for the town’s inaugural country music show.

“To have such renowned performers say yes to our approach was insane,” Ms Ash said.

Jetty Road’s music focuses on powerful melodies with crafted three-part harmonies.

The show will also feature new band 4 to the Bar singing well-known cover songs.

The show’s organisers said plans were on track for the annual event, kicking off at 1pm.

The pavilion will hold cooking, various crafts, flowers, photography and children’s work submitted by talented locals.

This year there are no entry fees for pavilion classes and with only section aggregates being paid.

Prizemoney will be paid only in the junior sections.

Outside interests include the horse events and poultry.

Yard dog trials will also be a spectacle, while Dogs Victoria will showcase their canines throughout Sunday and Monday, with free entry.

Activities will include face painting, international motorbike rider Adrian Harry performing stunts, an animal nursery and camel rides.

A new event, Rev it Up Racing, is a motor racing simulation for all ages.

Jessica Pierce’s Kaleidoskope Arts will be doing stilt walking, juggling, balloon sculpturing and other things to delight young and old.

The show office will take entries from now until Friday, with late entries to be accepted.

The side shows are always an attraction, as well as the food vendors.

Kerang Guides will again provide light meals in the turf club dining room.

Admission is $10 per adult, $8 per pensioner, $5 for children 15 years or under or free for pre-school (five and under). Family tickets are $25.
