Book parade barbie supports nursing home

MEMBERS of the Glenarm Family and Friends committee were out and about on Friday with the goal of raising funds for Kerang District Health while having front-row seats for the book parade.

Committee president Elaine Phillips was joined by volunteers and hosted a barbecue on Victoria Street, Kerang, with proceeds going to the Glenarm Nursing Nome at the hospital.

“As a committee we meet every second month, but we are often working on projects to donate to the hospital,” Mrs Phillips said.

“We often do knitting and other crafts and we donated Easter eggs and the proceeds from our Christmas raffle.

“We are a committee of 10 people at the moment, and all of us either have someone in the Glenarm facility or have had in the past.”

Glenarm Nursing Home is the residential care unit of the Kerang hospital which holds 30 beds for people requiring full-time aged-care support.

The barbecue on book parade day has become an annual event and raised more than $500 last year.
