Prizes part of the merry fun

MORE than 20 different organisations have contributed to $6000 worth of donated prizes to Kerang Neighbourhood House for their upcoming Christmas raffle.

Raffle tickets can be purchased from Kerang Neighbourhood House and the Neighbourhood House Op Shop for $2 per ticket.

The tickets will be drawn on 3pm on Sunday, December 15, for the Tinsel and Tongs event, which runs from 11am to 4pm at the Kerang Primary School oval.

There are more than 150 different prizes, including various gift cards, toys and books.

Kerang Neighbourhood House manager Claire Fry said a lot of people entering in the raffle would have a very good chance of winning a prize.

“Imagine paying $2 for a ticket and you win a brand-new adult bicycle,” she said.

“The first person that wins can choose anything, and we’ll keep drawing winners until everything runs out.”

There will also be a free barbecue on the day, as well as fairy floss, popcorn and slushes to enjoy, along with live music from two local musicians, Paul McNeish and Gavin Hardy.

Children can also enjoy free entertainment with kids’ train rides, Christmas art activities, face painting and a jumping castle, as well as a special visit from Mr Claus himself.

The event is funded by Gannawarra Shire through the Gannawarra Community Resilience Committee.

Ms Fry said she hoped people would have a fun day out and get in the Christmas spirit.

“There are many people who don’t get chance to celebrate Christmas,” Ms Fry said.

“We want it to be a fun family day where everybody can come.

“Kids can run wild and enjoy themselves and parents can just relax, have a barbecue, sit down and enjoy what’s going on.

“I just want everyone to have a really good day to kick off the Christmas period.”
