Sweet thank-you

A KERANG biscuit manufacturer has sweetened the festive spirit for local heroes this year.

Bisko Bakehouse, formerly Mac’s Shortbread Co, has put together biscuit hampers for all emergency service personnel in town.

Director Rodney McAlpin said the company wanted to spread the Christmas cheer this year after flash flooding forced volunteers away from the family table last Christmas.

“We thought, let’s get the team together and do something back for the town,” Mr McAlpin said.

“Those that are looking after us, keeping us safe and secure.

“We decided to do some hampers and present them to all emergency services in town, not not just as in per service, but per person involved in that service.”

About 65 hampers in total were distributed, with a handover at the Kerang fire station yesterday.

“Last Christmas our emergency services were out trying to drain water out of people’s houses and keeping everyone dry,” Mr McAlpin said.

“They missed out on their Christmas, so why not give them some biscuits they can enjoy with their family this year.”

The Australian made and owned company sell more than three million packs across Australia and New Zealand every year.

Woolworths has also stocked Bisko’s traditional shortbread chocolate selection this Christmas.

The iconic business employs 19 local people at their Tate Drive headquarters.
