Cohuna celebrates

COHUNA Lions Club hosted an Australia Day Breakfast on January 26 with more than 100 people joining to enjoy a patriotic morning at Garden Park, Cohuna.

Kicking off at 9am, The Lions’ cooked a barbecue breakfast with many market goers stopping by to enjoy the freshly cooked delights as well.

Cohuna and District Historical Society was rewarded for its contribution to the community with an award of appreciation.

The society has 40 volunteers with 32 of those currently active and are responsible for archiving the town’s history.

Lion’s Club treasurer Anne Graham said their contribution to the community was invaluable.

“They have three main arms of contribution including family history, building history and they also have the trash and treasure store where funds raised go towards continuing their work,” she said.

Georgia Anderson was guest speaker on the day and provided an overview of her life in Cohuna since relocating there two years ago.

Mrs Anderson works in carer support with Northern District Health.

She spoke highly of her new home in Cohuna and goals she would like to achieve such as more childcare options.

She also spoke about her work in carer support and the challenges of juggling a young family with work.
