Register now for Cohuna Bridge to Bridge

THE Cohuna Bridge to Bridge event is on again next month.

Scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 2, the day will kick off at 8am at the Cohuna Town Bridge Apex Park.

This community driven event, now in its 31st year, and under the leadership of a group of Cohuna District Hospital nurses and local volunteers, will be a busy day of fundraising.

With support from the Cohuna Neighbourhood House, the event will feature multiple activities, including trail runs, bike rides, and a variety of family-friendly attractions.

Participants can take on the half marathon or the 12.5km trail run, with the starting and finishing point at the Cohuna Town Bridge Apex Park.

Event director Steven Fehring said there should be a good crowd.

“This year we’re looking towards the 300 or 350 attendance mark,” he said.

“Registrations are still open and we’re encouraging everyone to get involved.

“The local Lions Club will be serving up breakfast of bacon and eggs whilst we’ll have coffee vendors and more there to feed the crowds.

“All money raised will go towards the Cohuna District Hospital for required upgrades with equipment and other necessities.”

CDH nurses will be stationed at checkpoints along the course, providing water and first aid.

A dedicated first aid tent will also be set up at the main event hub, with the nurses and hospital staff on standby.

For participants looking for a more relaxed run, there are 6.5km fun runs and junior bike rides along the Gunbower Creek via Island Road.

More seasoned cyclists can test their endurance with the 25km and 50km bike rides, covering a scenic route from the Town Bridge to Burkes Bridge and back.

Families and younger participants can enjoy a Kids Mini Bridge to Weir event, along with the Peace Pacer 100m Dash, offering a fun introduction to fitness for children.

With lots of activities going on, the Event Village will be full of food trucks and entertainment, providing a lively atmosphere for spectators and participants.

All proceeds from the event will go directly towards purchasing new patient care equipment for the Cohuna District Hospital.

Registration is open with event organisers encouraging the community to sign up and take part in a day of fitness and fundraising.
