Community ready to rock

HOME Ground Sounds is set to host its first annual fundraising concert for the Cohuna Football Netball Club this Sunday, at the Cohuna Recreation Reserve.

A family-friendly event with live music, amusement rides, food vans and prize raffles on offer, this is expected to be one of the town’s biggest events to date.

Director of Roundbox Group, Debra Clarke said the events group would take care of all logistic.

“Our very experienced team takes care of everything – permits and event organisation – so the community groups can focus on what matters most – raising money for their cause,” she said.

“By hosting this event, we are hoping to encourage tourists to buy local produce and spend in shops to boost Cohuna’s productivity.

“We are expecting to have a turnout of around a thousand people with the aim of making this an annual event for years to come.”

The gates will open at 2pm and the event will span across two ovals with more than enough room for people to bring their caravans, tents, chairs and picnic blankets.

The Cohuna Tennis Club is also providing their space for accommodation and tents on the day.

There will be a variety of food trucks including Good Meat Co. Leitchville, Gunbower Pizza, and the Cohuna Football Netball Club running an open bar and sausage sizzle.

“By bringing in food stalls from within the rural area, it provides families with inexpensive food and drink options and supports local businesses within the community,” Ms Clarke said.

“That is what this event is all about, supporting and strengthening the local community.”

The Cohuna Show will be set up early with amusement rides to keep the kids entertained and a lemonade stand to refresh concert goers.

The concert will feature musical guests including Rob Mills performing Bon Jovi tracks, Zak Armstrong, Big and Horny, Sam and Sam and 19Twenty.

The night will end with a performance by well-known rock band duo The Wolfe Brothers.

There will also be meet and greet opportunities after the performances, so be sure to stick around and have a chat with the artists.

“It is essentially a fundraiser for the whole Cohuna community and there is a lot of other attractions to enjoy in Cohuna.

“If you want to go for a ski along the river in the morning and then come along to the event in the afternoon, we definitely encourage ,” Ms Clarke said

The event will conclude at 10.30pm.

All stalls will receive a donation for helping on the day.
