THE Gannawarra Shire Council is calling for input on the second stage of street improvement work in the Kerang CBD.
The “stage 2 redevelopment”, set for next year, will see work on Scoresby Street, between Boundary and Fitzroy streets, to beautify the area and link the town’s railway station, Scoresby St park and the Victoria Square area.
The council is seeking feedback on features including trees, lighting, seating, public art, signs, footpaths and incorporated technology.
“Following on the upgrade of Victoria Square, it is important that we keep moving forward with freshening up the Kerang CBD,” Kerang Traders president Rob Basile said.
Gannawarra Shire Council CEO Tom O’Reilly said the redesign would “develop new ways residents and visitors can interact within the Kerang CBD”.
He said all feedback received would be taken into account in the final plans.
The first of three Zoom meetings on the project will be held on Tuesday at 3pm, with another on Wednesday at 5.30pm; and a third next Monday, September 21, at 4pm.
Feedback can also be provided via a survey downloaded from gsc.vic.gov.au/KerangCBD or picked up at Betta Electrical Kerang, Helen Macaulay Hair Studio, Rulcify’s or the Little Shoe Shop on Scoresby.
Surveys should be returned to the council’s Kerang customer service centre by midday next Tuesday.
The redevelopment project has been funded by a $1.3 million grant from the Federal Government’s $500 million Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program, which aims to support local jobs and economies in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
