Site cleared for new admin wing

WORK has begun on a $2.4 million build at Kerang Christian College that will see a new administration wing constructed and complete renovation of the primary building.

Announced in 2021, the College was provided $1.9m towards the $2.4m contract from the Victorian Government Non-Government Schools Capital Fund program.

This will see the construction of a new administration building that will include a new reception area, offices, meeting rooms, sick bays, uniform room, as well as a staff kitchen and lounge.

After the construction of the administration building, stage two will begin with the complete refurbishment of the primary building.

This stage of the project is set to begin in 2023.

Principal Wayne Barker said all of the primary classrooms will be modernised while the rest of the space will be remodelled into dedicated preparation areas for teachers, private education learning support rooms, additional offices and toilets.

“After being designed by local business McKnight and Bray Building Design, and now being constructed by Brendon Steel Building, everyone at the College is very excited to see the new works take shape,” Mr Barker said.

He said it has been a long process from applying for the original grant to seeing construction begin “but it has been worth the wait”.

“It will be an exciting addition to the school. Moving the office area out of the primary building and into its own wing will not only mean a more productive and user-friendly space for our staff, but it also means larger and improved facilities for our students,” Mr Barker said.
