Learning magnified in Sandhurst diocese

ST JOSEPH’S Primary School Kerang and St Mary’s Primary School Cohuna will implement a new learning and teaching program this year as Magnify Sandhurst was simultaneously launched across 51 Catholic schools in the Sandhurst diocese on January 28.

The official launch took place via a live broadcast from 11:15am to 12:15pm.

Executive director of Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd, Kate Fogarty said Magnify Sandhurst will be introduced from this year to 2027, with each phase designed to bring measurable improvements in each learning environment.

“Magnify Sandhurst is set to transform learning for students with more specific and explicit teaching practices, bringing greater consistency and a more predictable and effective educational experience for all students,” she said.

“The Magnify Sandhurst program combines evidence-based practices in teaching and learning to support each student’s unique needs, strengths, and goals, focusing on strengthening core areas like literacy and numeracy, building supportive classroom environments, and integrating Catholic values in daily learning.”

“One of the key goals of the Magnify Sandhurst approach is to ease the workload of teachers, allowing them to focus more on how they teach rather than what they teach.

“By following a well-structured, sequential curriculum, teachers will work together to deliver the best possible education.”

Over the past 12 months, CESL has been working with partner organisations, principals and educational experts to bring together this teaching program that will significantly change the way education will be delivered across the diocese.

With the mantra, ‘Every student, every teacher, every school, every day’, Magnify Sandhurst will enable teachers to create a learning environment that is both supportive and challenging, helping students achieve their full potential, CESL said.
