School offers sense of belonging

KERANG Christian College is a Prep – Year 12 school that allows students to move through their whole educational journey within the one community. They are able to build connections with students across the school and become known by all. This sense of belonging then helps each student find their place and the support they need to achieve success.

Our school motto, Integrity, Faith, Family, underpins the approach to all that the school does. We want to build students of good character, surround them with family and friends, and help them to find their purpose.

The educational journey at the college starts in the early years of primary school, as the students build their literacy and numeracy skills, while also experiencing a variety of hands-on activities.

They are not only led by their wonderful teaching staff, but also have the opportunity to learn from the older students across the school, where cross-age learning is encouraged.

Their journey takes a few twists and turns through upper primary and into secondary, where they connect in with a greater number of teachers and new subjects, while still building an important relationship with their home group teachers. Teaching staff aim to identify the strengths of each student and help to find the pathway that best suits their future career goals.

English, Mathematics, Science and Humanities are all given due time and focus in the secondary school, along with exposing students to a variety of practical subjects such as Woodwork, Food Technology, Music and Physical Education.

The journey reaches its climax in Year 10 – 12, where our students undertake a VCE program, that may incorporate aspects of individually tailored VET programs. Students begin to work closely with subject teachers, as well as developing ways to manage their learning independently.

From Prep all the way through to Year 12, our staff are passionate about supporting our students as they grow in their knowledge and skills.

It is the prayer of every staff and board member that Kerang Christian College be a place where all students feel welcome and are encouraged to achieve their best, and that every student develops a greater understanding of the amazing person God has created them to be.
