Value-added results at Barham High School

BARHAM High School has an exciting year ahead, and is proving to be a destination school for students and staff.

It offers an outstanding educational experience that goes beyond academics, providing students with opportunities to develop practical skills, engage in hands-on learning, and participate in a wide range of extracurricular activities.

Located in a supportive rural community, BHS is committed to ensuring that every student has access to high-quality education, regardless of financial circumstances.

One of the key features of BHS is its recognition for value-added results in literacy and numeracy.

The school has consistently demonstrated outstanding progress in helping students improve their skills between Year 7 and Year 9.

BHS’s approach to personalised learning and targeted support ensures that every student, regardless of their starting point, has the opportunity to develop essential literacy and numeracy skills that are critical for success in later years and beyond.

A key aspect of BHS’s commitment to ensure families have the opportunity to experience high quality public education, by providing the “Best education money can’t buy!”

BHS does not charge fees for its core educational programs. This means that every student, regardless of their family’s financial situation, has the opportunity to participate in a broad range of activities, including the extensive Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses on offer. With no fees, students can explore and develop their interests in fields such as Hospitality, Construction, Fitness, Metal and Engineering and Agriculture, where students gain industry-specific skills and qualifications that prepare them for the workforce or further study.

In addition to the VET courses, BHS offers opportunities for students to build practical skills and engage in hands-on learning. The school has recently upgraded its facilities, including new timber and metal workshops that give students the chance to work with the latest equipment and develop expertise in carpentry, welding, and metalworking.

For those with an interest in agriculture, the school’s agriculture plot and cattle stud offer real-world experience in managing livestock and crops, preparing students for careers in the agricultural industry. Additionally, BHS provides access to a fully-equipped gymnasium, where students can focus on physical education and fitness, encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle.

BHS also prides itself on its modern and upgraded science laboratories, where students can engage in hands-on experiments and research. These facilities allow students to deepen their understanding of scientific concepts and apply them in practical situations.

All of these opportunities are made possible without the burden of additional fees. This ensures that every student at BHS has equal access to the tools, resources, and experiences they need to excel.

BHS were recent recipients of being awarded an Excellence Awardee for the Australian Educator’s “Best Regional School in Australia”. This is amazing that not only was BHS identified as a leading school in our region, but across all of Australia.

Now is the best time to see what BHS can offer your child for a high quality education, book a tour with the principal, Brendan Yu, or attend the open afternoon on Monday, May 12 from 4pm to tour the school and see what BHS has to offer.
