OUR name, Kerang Technical High School, says it all.
We are the last technical high school in the state of Victoria and have chosen to retain this name as it best represents what we offer our students. As a technical high school, we successfully offer both an academic pathway for students aiming to engage with tertiary education as well as a trade pathway leading to apprenticeships.
Our VCE results are testimony to this, with the dux from KTHS consistently receiving ATARs above 90 and 40- plus study scores for individual subjects.
The technical wing has been a strong feature of our school for many years.
The state-of-the-art machinery, trade qualified staff and the pathway offered by the technical wing have ensured it is integral to the school community.
More recently, the school has undergone a refurbishment plan, with both the red brick building and the library upgraded to better reflect the learning needs of the students at KTHS.
We are extremely proud of this dual pathway and the results we have been able to achieve.
Our school is committed to an education that provides a learning experience enabling every student to achieve success within the framework of adhering to the values of respect, resilience, and responsibility.
More recently, we have begun to implement a school wide positive program to collaboratively develop the school values, build student voice and agency and teach the students to be ‘good citizens.’
KTHS has built strong relationships with agencies to provide additional support for students to assist them to be their best.
As another support, therapy dogs make regular visits to the classroom to interact with the students.
The wellbeing team also makes the Pantry Stop available for students, in addition to supplying breakfast every Wednesday.
Our school continues to individualise programs and utilise surrounding processes to help families identify the strengths, functional needs and educational adjustments to assist students with disability and additional learning needs.
This is a collaborative process involving staff, the student and parents in developing an educational program best suited to the individual student.
Students are then supported with education support staff, tutoring programs and middle years literacy and numeracy support.
We also provide diverse services for our students including Doctors in Schools and an art therapist who uses art making and the creative process to help with mental health concerns.
Kerang Technical High School is enthusiastic to show what we have to offer.
