Small school, big heart

MURRABIT Group School were victorious at the Murray Plains Swimming Sports held at the Koondrook Swimming Pool recently.

Four local rural schools competed, including Murrabit, Koondrook, Gunbower and Leitchville.

Events ranged from novelty activities for the younger students through to lap events for those more capable swimmers.

Two students who were particularly outstanding on the day and who won the champion boy and champion girl trophy were Max McInerney (Koondrook) and Pippy Morton (Murrabit).

The event’s co-ordinator, Murrabit Group School’s Bernie Monaghan, said he was very impressed with the enthusiasm of all competitors throughout the day and congratulated Murrabit on winning their seventh Murray Plains trophy in a row.

Murrabit Group School is a small, rural school that school prides itself on providing high-quality education to students from Foundation to grade 6 in a warm and nurturing environment.

We offer support for families with a before and after-school care program that runs from 7.30am to 6pm daily.

Our new future Prep Little Explorers program is every Monday in term four, and we welcome prospective prep enrolments.

The school’s mission is to provide a comprehensive education that empowers students to become independent, creative, and responsible citizens.

To achieve this mission, the school has a team of highly skilled and dedicated teachers working with small class sizes who work closely with students and parents to provide individualised attention and support.

They are supported by ES staff and, a tutor, who ensure students are fully supported in their learning in the key learning areas of literacy and numeracy.

Murrabit Group School strongly focuses on literacy, numeracy, inquiry skills and wellbeing.

There are dedicated programs and resources to support student learning and a range of extracurricular activities to enrich the student experience, including music, sports, and Italian.

Murrabit Group School is proud of its commitment to sustainability and environmental education in its beautiful grounds.

The school has a large vegetable garden that is tended by students.

Students also participate in regular waste reduction and recycling initiatives through Sustainability Vic and have recently joined the River Detectives Program.

The school has a strong connection to the local community, with regular events and activities that involve parents and community members.

This helps to create a supportive and inclusive school culture where everyone is valued and respected.

Murrabit Group School also strongly emphasises technology and the development of digital literacy skills, keeping safety in mind.
