THERE are plenty of youngsters leading the way in their communities – including at local primary schools.
In the past week the 2025 school captains at Koondrook and Murrabit were officially recognised by the Member for Murray Plains, Peter Walsh, who attended assemblies at both schools.
Mr Walsh said he’s always impressed by the boy and girls who take on leadership roles in their schools but found the teams at Koondrook and Murrabit to be standouts in the region.
“The students run the school assemblies and do a fantastic job but they went above and beyond when I was there,” he said.
“At Koondrook, not only did the students run the show, they even put on a show.
“As part of the assembly there was also some dance and a couple of short skits – it was very entertaining for their classmates, staff, a large turnout of parents – and me.”
Mr Walsh said Murrabit have established a little tradition where each award recipient goes around the room shaking hands with all guests and attending parents.
He said he had not seen that before, but it proved to be a very popular part of the assembly.
“The kids at both schools did amazing renditions of the national anthem and there were some good speakers amongst them as well,” Mr Walsh said.
“After presenting to the school captains, I always like to ask them what they plan to do in their role to make their school a better place, and we got some diverse and refreshing answers.
“These are amazing little schools doing a super job and I congratulate principals Amanda Bradford (Koondrook) and Greg Adams (Murrabit) and their staff on the excellent work they are doing.”
KOONDROOK
School captains are Pippa Dean and Max McInerney.
Vice-captains are Zander martin and Willow Vinecombe.
House captains are Max McInerney, Jimmy Puddick, Brax Woolhouse and Zander Martin.
MURRABIT
School captains are Xaviar Hein and Pippy Morton.
Vice-captain is Clairah Lee.
