Expert advice on rabbit eradication

Lakes landholders are invited to attend a rabbit-busting workshop on Wednesday, March 23.

The free workshop will examine and demonstrate various methods of getting rid of rabbits, including ripping, fumigation and implosion.

It will be delivered by Tim Bloomfield from the Victorian Rabbit Action Network, as part of the Loddon Plains Landcare Network’s Kerang Community Rabbit Control Project, with support from the North Central Catchment Management Authority.

Mr Bloomfield has decades of experience in pest management, particularly rabbits.

“We’ll show people how to get best value out of their money and efforts,” Mr Bloomfield said.

“No-one wants the rabbits being in charge of what grows and what doesn’t. We’ll demonstrate best-practice methods for baiting and burrow destruction, including how to use implosion for difficult-to-rip areas.”

The day starts with a presentation after morning tea at the Sandhill Lake CFA fireshed, followed by a field demonstration on a nearby farm after a BBQ lunch. Anyone interested in coming along can contact John from the Loddon Plains Landcare Network on 0407 339 915, or email: goanna@lpln.org.
