The gift of giving

KERANG South Primary students have been looking ahead to prepare Christmas packages for charity.

With help from their families, the students have been collecting items to fill shoeboxes which will be sent to children living in poverty overseas.

Operation Christmas Child, which the school is taking part in, is organised by international relief organisation Samaritan’s Purse.

Principal Lyn Veall said the students were required to pack something from each of six categories: something to wear, something to play with, something for school, something to love, something special and something for personal hygiene.

She said the activity had been a positive experience, with students displaying empathy and community spirit as they worked on the project.
