QUITE often individuals think about their experiences with nurses to be one based inside their local hospital, but Kerang District Health is reminding the community that their home services are widely available to patients in the district.
District services nurse unit manager, Suzanne Grey, told the Gannawarra Times that Kerang District Health had a nurse available to deliver home visits every day of the year, and for this reason the service has been well received.
“We have a very talented and dedicated team of nurses, specialising in the needs of the local community, who are available to visit patients at home to make life that little bit easier,” Ms Grey said.
“We have a range of skilled nurses who are able to assist any age group, from newborns all the way up to our oldest client who is 102, and more people are feeling comfortable using this service.
“Being treated at home is important for a variety of reasons, but we believe being in a relaxed and familiar environment is incredibly helpful for recovery and also ongoing treatments.”
With nurses who are “well educated in specific health areas” available to the Kerang and district community, Ms Grey said that locals were in very capable hands.
“The nurses work together as a team and also as individuals when visiting clients,” Ms Grey said.
“Having the ability to be treated at home, with very capable nurses is going to always be a positive for the town.”
However, some patients opt to visit the district nurses at the clinic.
“Home visits aren’t for everyone, and we understand that, so I think having the option between the two is also very handy,” Ms Grey said.
“We are very supportive of each way our locals like to be treated.”
