Gearing up for Quambatook show

With the Quambatook Show weekend fast approaching, coordinator of the Quambatook Community Resource Centre, Annie Meadows, encourages both juniors and adults to enter one or more items for display, particularly urging those with an interest in photography or sculpture to have a go at winning one of the available cash prizes.

In the newly added sculpture section, the theme is to produce something ‘over the farm gate’, with that applying to both juniors and adults.

“You can produce things that you’ve found over the farm gate, so using scrap objects or something you’ve found over the farm gate that you’ve turned into a sculpture, or something that you would find over the farm gate,” Ms Meadows said.

She explained it can be anywhere on the farm, not necessarily just over the gate.

Sculptures can be made from any medium.

The over the farm gate theme also applies to one section of the photography competition.

Photos of anything to do with farming and agriculture can be entered in this section.

Those interested in entering craft, home-cooked items, farm produce, flowers and plants are also encouraged to do so.

Entry is just 50 cents, regardless of the category, so if you are keen to exhibit your work, submit your entry form by Wednesday, October 23.

The Quambatook Show runs from Friday, October 25, with light refreshments at the 6.30pm official opening.

Saturday hours are 8am to 3pm and Sunday is from 9am to noon.

Admission is a gold coin donation.

As well as the pavilion style exhibits over the weekend, there’ll be a Saturday town garage sale, running from 8am until 1.30pm, and a screening of Crackerjack that evening at the Silo Cinema.

The town’s caravan park already has more than 100 people booked in over the weekend.
