FIREFIGHTERS were called to McCann Crescent, Kerang in the early hours yesterday morning to extinguish a car that was on fire.

Kerang brigade members arrived shortly after 6am to find the engine bay of a silver Statesman Commodore fully engulfed.

Captain Ramon Steel said the fire was brought under control within five minutes.

Acting Sergeant Roberta Barry, from Kerang, said police had checked the car, which was unregistered and had no registration plates, the night before.

She said the cause of the fire was under investigation.
