Racing Victoria and the Kerang Turf Club (KTC) have decided that the race meeting programmed at Kerang on Easter Saturday, 11 April the clubBarham Kerang Cup Day will be abandoned due to the Coronavirus.
The decision to abandon was made in consultation with the KTC and Country Racing Victoria due to the current controls in place restricting attendance at Victorian race meetings.
The KTC hosts two meetings per year, both in the holiday period, with on-course attendance and local community engagement in the Gannawarra Shire central to the success of both.
The decision also ensures that the amount of travel required by participants and officials is further minimised during the period of restrictions.
Throughout the club’s proud history of 140 years, it has have never had to endure something like this pandemic.
The committee remains positive and are already planning for the future.
