TARGET Australia has confirmed its Kerang store is among 50 Target Country outlets set to close around the country over the coming 12 months.
On its website the company listed Kerang among the locations where shops would be shut.
While some stores in the list are closing as early as next month, the expected closure date for Kerang is early to mid 2021.
The company described its decision to close shops and “transform the Target network” as a very difficult one which was necessary to improve commercial viability.
Target said it would continue to service regional areas through its online business.
In addition to the Target Country stores another 10-25 large Target outlets will also be closed.

Business Update | Target Australia
Dear customer,
You may have heard about changes that have been announced regarding the future of Target.
As a result of these changes, a number of our stores will be leaving the Target family. Some of these stores will be converting to Kmart and, sadly, some will be closing. The majority of these changes will happen next year.
We understand these closures will affect a lot of people in the Target community and we appreciate your patience and understanding during these challenging times. We are committed to providing every opportunity for redeployment for our team members who will be affected by these changes.
We are proud to have a rich history as an Australian company and we are committed to serving you, our valued customers, now and into the future. We have many Target stores which remain unaffected by today’s announcement and you can continue to shop with us online with the same ease and convenience.
For regularly updated information about the changes we are making, our FAQs can be found here.
I would like to thank you for your continued support and understanding.
