Loddon Shire roads and community infrastructure is set for a boost

LODDON Shire roads and community infrastructure is set for a boost following last week’s budget announcement by Federal treasurer Josh Frydenberg.

“The Federal Budget outlined a significant number of spending initiatives and Loddon Shire Council welcomes the $343.8 million of additional funding that will be available to Victorian councils under the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program,” Loddon Shire Council CEO Phil Pinyon said.

“Loddon has received preliminary advice that our portion of this additional funding will be $1.789 million..”

Mr Pinyon highlighted other budget measures he considers will benefit Loddon Shire communities.

“We also welcome the announcement of $28.3 million over four years to extend the Be Connected program to help increase digital literacy among older Australians, as well as the $30.3 million over two years for regional connectivity,” he said.

Gannawarra Shire Council declined to comment on the federal budget at this stage, but will also share in additional funding for roads and community infrastructure, regional connectivity and digital literacy.
