RSL triumph in tight battle

RESULTS FROM WANDELLA

A grade

A GRADE played RSL at Gurnett Oval in a must win encounter to remain in the top two.

On a pitch that provided sideways movement, we started in the worst possible way with an early onslaught of wickets and us sliding to 6/26. Despite feeling ill with a stomach bug, captain Greg Dickson stood up and was our only real form of resistance with 55, and a last wicket partnership of 27 got us to a total of 89.

In reply, RSL got off to a flyer and were 0/31 but the match dramatically turned on its head with the bowling partnership of Logan Keighran and Rohan Oliver pulled things back for us – stopping the runs and igniting a collapse to have RSL 6/47.

In a tight battle we went down with two wickets in hand for RSL. Bowlers Logan Keighran had 4 wickets and Rohan Oliver 1/12 off 15 overs.

B grade

OUR B Grade side had the challenge of playing Woorinen at Woorinen.

Bowling first, they kept things tight and didn’t let the run rate get out of control.

Leigh Hollingworth took 3/8 off his six overs and was assisted by wickets to Bremner, Nick Oliver, Sam Teasdale and Crackers Messer.

They had a chase of 125 ahead and despite early losses, Paddy Oliver remained solid and got to 48 in a good innings, and was strongly supported by Russell Bott (25 not out), Sam Teasdale (18 not out) and Crackers Messer with 15.

This ensured that they got over the line with 14 balls to spare.

C grade

C GRADE were looking to bounce back against Ultima TUF at Ken Harrison Reserve.

After batting first, youngsters Laing Waddingham and Jasper Chamberlain batted for a good amount of time compiling 28 and 18 respectively, and a list of starts combined with a significant amount of extras helped them post a good score of 5/141.

In reply, they seemed to have the game always in hand, and some good bowling from Waddingham, Chamberlain and Jason Brown ensured that they would come away with a 45 run victory.

Under 16s

FINISHING off their tight battle from the previous week, the boys continued to bat on with intent to score quickly.

Captain Bohden McKnight continued his stellar form getting to 74 retired and he had some great assistance from Archer McKnight with 15 and Archer Lancaster 21.

This helped them post a score of 161, which was an exceptional result.

Early wickets helped to tie down the Raiders batsmen, and a late hat trick to mystery spinner Zarne Thamm helped solidify the victory by 30 runs.

What was even more impressive from Thamm was that all of his 3 wickets in the hat trick were bowled.

A great effort.

Under 13s

OUR under 13s managed to get their second win of the season in a convincing fashion to get home by 79 runs.

Resuming their innings, Sam Hollingworth scored his highest everscore with 47, and after the scores ofthe previous week, they ended upwith 5/189.

Some other good efforts wereyoungsters Jack McClelland and Archer Waddingham batting for alot of balls and valuing their wicket. In reply, wickets were shared around with two each to Alby Lancaster and Sam Hollingworth, while Evie McKnight and Max Sandersalso bowled tight spells for a wicket as well.
