Flowers cause trip hazard to grave walkers

THE Kerang Cemetery is a credit to the cemetery trust, especially now when the gazanias are in full bloom.

It is a tourist attraction in its own right and a popular place for historians to explore our local history and absorb the monumental architecture of times gone by.

However, despite the colorful contribution this carpet of flowers makes to springtime in the cemetery, there are now concerns that the plants have become a hazard to walkers there and should be completely exterminated.

With controlled maintenance of the plants and a reasonable expectation that people will tread carefully amongst the graves, the risk factor would be reduced to an acceptable level without the need to destroy this garden of flowers which blooms in the shadow of the old headstones.
