Freedom to camp being eroded

Dear Editor,

For the past 40 years we have camped in freedom on both the Wakool and Edwards rivers, until recently we were asked to move on. We were camped illegally, and if we didn’t comply the police would move us.

Our freedom is slowly being eroded.

If you own a firearm, you are almost classed as a criminal.

Good men and women gave us this freedom with the cost of their lives.

It seems to me, you only have freedom, if you crawl in a hollow and do nothing, or shut your mouth and say nothing.

If those before us could see what we face in this world today, they would be horrified.

There isn’t much you can do today that doesn’t put you in breach of the law in one way or another.

Those in authority are pushing to put tourists in caravan parks because they are closing all free campsites in the country.

Once again, where is our freedom?
