RECENTLY I had the pleasure of visiting what I believe is possibly the Gem of the Gannawarra Region. I refer to the absolute outstanding Kerang Museum. I was blown away by the incredible extent of the displays. We are blessed with many natural features in this area including the Ramsar wetlands, the many waterways, rivers, creeks, streams, lagoons, lakes and marshes, just to name a few.
However, when it comes to human-made facilities it would be impossible to go past the Kerang Museum.
It is an absolute credit to the many highly skilled and talented volunteers.
On my visit I met a number of volunteers who were friendly, informative and enthusiastic.
Being an ageing boomer who grew up in the Riverina, the many displays took me back to my childhood.
The museum is open on a Sunday afternoon and at other times by appointment, and if you are looking for a cheap Christmas gift of great value, you could not go past a visit to the Kerang Museum.
