Cemetery state is disappointing

ATTENDING a funeral last week at the Kerang Cemetery I was appalled at the state of the monumental section. The old graves, some of our past pioneers, are so badly kept with weeds among them up to a metre tall.

The sad thing is some of these graves may have to be available for interment and how will this be able to be done?

If people wish to attend the graves for anniversary or other reason, how will they be able to get to the grave of their love one?

One of the worse noxious weeds is fleabane and there are plenty of this weed up to a metre tall.

They are now ready to throw their thousands of seeds there and blown out to gardens, et cetera.

Visitors to our town to attend funerals must wonder why the place is in such a state.

What is the Cemetery Trust doing about this issue?

Do the members of the Trust not check on how our once beautiful cemetery has come to be in this state.

Many have made comments regarding this issue and it saddened me that when I go to other cemeteries they are beautifully kept in both monumental and lawn areas.

Our past residents should be respected whether in our cemetery or still part of our community.
