Moderate flooding for Loddon River – Sep 21, 1993

MODERATE flooding of the Loddon River is expected at Kerang and Appin following a warning of major flood warning downstream of Laancoorie Reservoir.

Rural Water Corporation controller of operations at Kerang, Mr Ross Frantz said yesterday morning the river had not peaked at Laancoorie and it was therefore impossible to make any definite predictions.

The flow downstream of Laancoorie at 8 am yesterday measured 60,500 megalitres and 5.8m on the gauge and still rising.

Mr Frantz said significant increases in inflows were expected.

The Avoca River was expected to reached 7.4m at Charlton last night, with reasonably high levels expected at Quambatook.

Mr Frantz said the Murray River was also rising and carried a moderate flood warning.
