2022 in Review – January – Ganna be a great year

GANNAWARRA residents welcomed in 2022 in style, despite the ongoing challenges of COVID-19 and hot weather.

Cohuna enjoyed yet another high-profile talent in DJ Lee Davies who was the headline act for New Year’s Eve.

Mr Davies boasts years as resident of some of Melbourne’s top clubs and also has experience touring with major artists like Prince and INXS.

Organisers said a local connection had brought Mr Davies to this corner of the world, and he continued a year of high-profile visitors to Cohuna.

Cohuna and District Progress Association president Andrew Gibbs said Mr Davies was very popular and the night “went off without a hitch”.

“Rachel Warren sang very well too,” Mr Gibbs said

“And the fireworks were great.”

The 600-strong crowd was also praised for their excellent behaviour at the event farewelling a difficult 2021.

Elsewhere, Kerang hosted another Party in the Park, with droves of locals and visitors again braving the heat to celebrate.

“We had people from Bateman’s Bay, Wallan, Swan Hill, Charlton, Ballarat, Bendigo and Lake Boga,” an event organiser said.

“Shane and his team from Mr Skye Candy wowed us with the most spectacular fireworks displays – reported to be seen as far away as Lake Charm.”

Local favourites Endangered Species also put on a musical performance as the clock approached midnight.

There was an array of food including a gourmet barbecue from the Kerang Lions Club, woodfired pizza, pulled pork and wagyu beef burgers, Asian cuisine, baked potatoes, coffee van, fruit salad and ice-cream, cinnamon donuts and fairy floss.
