AFTER three long years, tractor pulling returned to Quambatook over the long weekend with massive crowds converging on the town to watch the horsepower beasts hit the track.
An estimated crowd of 4000 attended this year’s Tractor Pull, and the crowd in attendance were entertained long into the night.
The Vintage category kicked off at 1pm, warming the crowd up with some impressive pulls along the 100m long dirt track.
However it was the modified beasts that the crowd came to see, and all eyes were firmly on the tract when they roared into life at 3.30pm.
Quambatook Tractor Pullers Association president Tim Betson was thrilled with the return of the event.
“It was a really good day,” he said.
“The numbers were well up and the weather was fantastic as well.”
Numbers were above pre-event expectations, and Saturday was one of the biggest events that the association has run.
“We had a few people who came up to us and said it was a great day and they will be back next year,” he said.
“I was a bit worried about whether we would bounce back from missing a couple of years.
“But with the numbers that we have had, it has shown that their is interest again in tractor pulling.”
Mr Betson said it was a big task to put the event together.
“I would like to thank the sponsors and the spectators for their support,” he said.
“The crowd stayed there, we didn’t finish to after 11 and there was still crowd on the bank right until the end.”
In addition to the tractor pulling there was plenty to see and do, with the crowd also treated to a aerial display from Paul Bennett Air Shows at 5.30pm just before the night schedule began.
There was also a truck display and plenty for the kids to do including kids rides and face painting, and there were plenty of families in attendance on the day.
