With some classes going back to school on May 26, those parents juggling work and home schooling will be relieved.

If everything goes as planned, students from years three to 10 will return to the classroom on Tuesday, June 9.

The Exchange Hotel is up for sale and there is a rumour going around that a couple of local blokes had been having a look at purchasing it.

Can’t confirm this one way or the other, but it would be great for the local community if some locals snaffled it.

Yeah, okay, it’s only gossip, but there’s a couple of names out there…

Ian Franzini runs a tidy little business down there in Fitzroy Street, selling and repairing second hand cars.

His lovely mother-in-law Gwen Lane bakes him slices for morning tea every day. Of course Ian is very spoilt.

The only problem is that Jack Whitehead makes sure he gets a share of the morning tea.

The more Jack has, the less Ian gets! Admittedly, Jack does help Ian with the occasional windscreen replacement.

Most of the farmers would have finished scratching a bit of seed in by now, so the rain Thursday week ago was basically perfect. Those that haven’t finished won’t be too far away from knocking it over.

It is time that we had the perfect season, and so far, this seems like a pretty good start.

While talking farming, it would be great to see the rice blokes in NSW get some water – and a season.

It’s a bit weird that politics is so involved in farming.

Local band The Dip Road Dogs have dug deep and recorded an EP in Nashville.

Apparently the recording session became available and band member David Chirnside had to give his bandmate Jack Pay, a quick call, as Jack was travelling around Australia. Jack took up the offer and headed to Nashville.

One of the tracks is titled Lazy. Check it out on YouTube.

So we were a bit out with the birth date for Ollie Matheson.

Seems like the little running half back (I’ve called it early Matho) came into the world in December 2019.

The Heathcote & District Footy League has cancelled the 2020 season, so there will be no play for the Leitchville-Gunbower team – officially.

Wonder what they would do if all restrictions were lifted on August 1 for example?

Other leagues would have the option to get in four or five games and maybe a final.

It’s all up in the air until that decision is made, but not for the HDFNL, they have called it.

The Rodwells building in Wellington Street is now empty as Linda and the gang have moved out the highway to the Nutrien Ag Solutions office. At least no jobs were lost, thankfully.

It’s a bit further now for Heather Mortlock to go out for a visit and a cuppa.

And it looks like the local Target store will close its doors sometime next year.

That will be very disappointing for the town, but being the optimist, things are changing, and although it’s unlikely this will be a change for the better, Kerang will remain a pretty vibrant country shopping centre.

Let’s get behind the local traders.

Ian Southern has been drawing lines all over the road in the centre of town this week.

Whoever said the bloke was crooked? Straight as a die, Southo. Well done.

Bobby Cooper, a cricket umpire who finished his umpiring career with the Northern District Cricket Association umpires has sadly passed away. Bob was an excellent umpire who did the job for the fun of it. He will be sadly missed.
