THERE were many Easter visitors to the district visiting family or attending one of the many events.

One such visitor was Simon Spinks (son of Dale). Simon was spotted cleaning one of Dale’s coir mats, belting it on the fence out front. Simon said it probably hadn’t been cleaned in 20 years. It’s obviously your job, Simon, and it should get done the next time you are in town. Hope you enjoyed your stay.

It must be mentioned that while I was talking to Simon, I had left my car door open and this flattened the battery. Some jumper leads hooked up to Dale’s car, some assistance from Spinksy and I was on my way. Thanks Simon.

The local footy starts this Saturday, It’s great to have it back. There was one game played last week at the new River Raiders home ground against Tyntynder to open their magnificent new complex.

Best of luck to all locals teams, and it’s good to have it back.

The Kerang Quilters had a successful show over the Easter weekend. Suzette Lehmann produced a sample quilt to show what her long arm quilting machine can do and she asked those interested to guess how many stitches were in the quilt.

It turns out that the quilt had 200,576 stitches and Dorothy McIntosh guessed 200,860 stitches. That’s pretty close.

Suzette said it took 18 hours to produce the quilt, so that means that her long arm quilting machine does, on average, 3.0953 stitches per second. Dorothy obviously thought that it did 3.0997 per second.

Brett Makeham was hoping that the Scoresby Street improvements would continue down past his KJs Outdoor and Marine shop on the corner with Nolan St. He was a bit disappointed as this was never in the plan. Turns out he gets a re-surfaced road instead! Shows you have a bit of influence there Mako.

Ian Daye turned up to the KLTC Easter tournament for the 45th year. He has only missed eight years since he first played in 1969. Most would know that he has won the tournament a few times, too.

A certain spy informs me that he also won the “belt” many years ago, although Ian claims not to remember this. A night at Worsley’s woolshed was also mentioned. Some of the older local tennis players may remember this.

The world economy is being affected by the cost of the tape used by the super rules blokes. It is essential as it holds their knees and ankles in place.

This doesn’t matter too much as the footy means the world to these blokes.

So what’s going on with the Saints? I haven’t spoken to Simon Hall in quite a while, so I’m not up with the news. Former Kerang District Health boss, Simon is one of the only level-headed Saints supporters that I know.

I’m sure Simon would be happy with the recent victory despite the injury hardships. They’ll also most likely mark round 20 for a victory.

Colin “Chookeyes” Delamare fell off a ladder while cleaning his spouting a week or two ago. This was all over “fakebook” and it’s great to hear that Chookeyes is doing well, although he did spend some time in hospital.

I had to laugh at one of the comments from someone that we must assume is a friend of Colins, which was “You stupid idiot”.

It’s not for us to argue Col, but you probably don’t have a ladder license, plus you’re over 60 and that’s old enough to know better.

Best wishes to you Chookeyes.
