With the AFLW grand final coming up on April 9, someone brought up the question regarding equal pay in women’s sport. Maybe the ladies should get paid a proportion of the TV rights their screen time earns, as their crowds do not compare to the AFL.

The crowds for women’s tennis would be similar to that of the men, but that question has been exhausted.

While speaking of women’s sport, the great Ash Barty retired last week. She’s had a ripping career and is obviously is a pretty sound place.

She could play a bit.

It was noticed that local footy legend, Digger Peck picked all nine winners in the first round of the AFL. The first round is one that can often be a bad one for tipping, but it seems Digger is on the right track. Everyone now has to catch you Dig.

The friendly ad rep from the Swan Hill Guardian, Steve Colombo, jumped to the lead of the company’s footy tipping after round one.

Very happy with the result, Steve was quick to admit that it was a fluke. There’s a mistake right there. You never admit that stuff.

With 18 rounds of footy coming up in the Central Murray Football and Netball League, local umpiring legend Des Shelly requires 21 games to reach the 800 milestone.

So that’s 18 rounds plus three finals then the grand final with a possible 22 games for Des.

You’d better make sure that you don’t get injured Des and that you maintain some form for the Prelim and Grand Final. You don’t want to be stranded on 799.

Kerang and Eaglehawk had a practice match at Riverside Park in Kerang on Saturday, March 19 with Eaglehawk getting their noses in front. It was an excellent hit-out for both clubs, who will do quite well in their respective leagues this season.

Kerang and Wandella Under-14s also had a practice match last Wednesday evening out at Wandella, with the Bombers having a good win.

Coach Mat Chamberlain made sure the Wandella lads didn’t get ahead of themselves, as they were pretty happy with the win.

The docile Pakistani wickets haven’t been the best advertisement for test cricket.

In the first two test, the Pakistan team only exceeded 3 runs per over on one occasion when they lost no wickets and we didn’t have a second bat. Why not knock up some quick runs and throw out a challenge?

Australia’s first innings in the first test we made 3.27 runs per over and the quick second hit in the second test 4.31 per over.

The Mid Murray Flying Club held their Fly-in on the weekend, and had quite a few planes at the Kerang airport, along with a display of motor vehicles.

Tim Scriven and Jarret Treacy were busy on Thursday afternoon getting a vehicle or two ready to take down there. Tim, or course, has some interesting vehicles in his shed.

An extra Kerang Community Market was also held at the airport on Saturday morning also.

Hope that all who flew in and visited had a great time.
